Staff Profile: James Pearce

Why did you become a physio?

I have always had an interest in sport and science. Having dealt with multiple injuries during my time, it was a logical decision to pursue a career in physiotherapy. During my childhood, I had a passion for any sports with a ball, particularly soccer, rugby union and basketball.

What are your key special skills and interests as a physio?

I love to dry needle! But jokes aside, I have a particular interest in the injury management of hip, knee and ankles injuries. I have also been enjoying utilizing the pilates equipment since joining SportsTec which has helped broaden my exercise rehabilitation repertoire.

What is your favourite thing about your role at STC?

The variety of injuries that I am presented with on a weekly basis. Every week delivers something new, and every patient requires a different approach. I enjoy tailoring my rehabilitation to their needs for their individual sport and specific weaknesses.

What has been the highlight of your career to date?

Being able to be a part of multiple sporting teams both locally and nationally in different areas and work alongside some excellent physiotherapists who I have continued to learn from.

If you could spend the day as either #SportsTecGus or #SportsTecNibbles, which would you choose and why?

It would have to be #SportTecGus – because he has a very good physique!
